In-vessel composting systems with an agitated bed are housed inside buildings completely containing the composting operation, which is suitable for a higher level of automation, than most other methods.  

Agitation equipment that straddles the compost bunkers are furnished with paddles or drums that agitate the compost, and—over a period of 21 days—moves the material to the discharge end for unloading and transfer. In-vessel systems are constructed of long concrete channels, with multiple aeration zones of varying lengths, and fitted with individual blowers to force air through the AirFloor® in-floor manifold system into the compost.
